Santiago and Maria
Santiago, and his wife Maria, have a medicine store near the Plaza de Armas in Pucallpa, Perú. Santiago is the artisan that lovenly hand crafts each Kuripé, tepi and wooden mapacho smoking pipes. He works with jungle hard woods, crystals, minerals, such as Peruvian turquoise and painted, sculpted clay figurines. Maria looks after the store during the day and hand crafts necklaces, rattles, feather earrings and hand woven string necklaces. They both are lovers of nature and ayahuasca ceremonies. They live a life in honor of the great spirit that makes life on Earth possible. We’ve been working with Santiago and Maria for over three years. Their son is going to college for civil engineering. They have a small cabin in the country near Santiago’s mom. She is a tough Peruvian lady that knows the lessons of Ayahuasca. It’s been an honor helping bring this family’s art and culture to the larger world. They have always been very honest with me and have never taken advantage of any situation. This is a rare level of integrity that is hard find.
